Overview
LifeFone helps to reduce concerns about personal safety and offers a way to maintain independence in your own home. The system consists of a medical alert base unit that plugs into an electrical outlet and connects directly to your phone line, and a pendant help button which is available as a pendant or a wristband. Unlike some systems which only work with a traditional phone line, LifeFone works with traditional landline, cable and fiber optic and Magic Jack. Pushing the help button will put you in direct contact with a live Care Agent who will have your Emergency Care Instructions displayed in front of them. Communication will be via the base unit. Should you be too far away to effectively communicate through the base unit, help will automatically be sent to you.
Features
The personalized LifeFone Emergency Care Instructions allow you and your family to customize their response to fit your specific needs. Information such as medical history, allergies, names and numbers of doctors, friends and family will all be kept confidential and can be used to best assist you if the need arises. The pendant is waterproof and the system offers a long-range transmitter which has the ability to offer protection in any direction up to 1500 feet. A built in battery backup provides up to 32 hours of continued usage during a power outage.
Additional Information
In business since 1976, LifeFone has been rated A+ by the Better Business Bureau. All of their services are offered directly through the company and everything is based within the U.S. In the case of married couples, free spouse monitoring is available. You can also take your medical alert system with you. Whether you're going out of town for a day, a week or even longer, a simple phone call to LifeFone will enable them to reactivate your system in a different location.

HAVEN'T HAD TO USE IT... YET!
I have never used my alert system so not sure how well it works. I am quite fond of the emergency care plan thogh. With my medical conditions it is really nice to have my records within hands reach at all times. I do not worry much anymore because my records are available all the time.
VERY THOUGHTFUL COMPANY
the emergency response card came in handy when i was visitng my son in utah. none of the doctors in utah know my medical information and i was able to provide it when they arrived. it made things run much more smoothly.
WONDERFUL TECHNOLOGY
Hallelujah!!! What would I have done without this outstanding technology? We had severe storms, and my electricity went out. During my adventure to the kitchen to find some candles I tripped over a rug because I could not see, and I fell. I had a hip replacement around 6 months back and could not get up. My alert worked! The ems showed up quickly and everyone was so friendly. God bless!
WORKED WHEN I NEEDED IT
I was building a gun rack in my wood working shop in the back lot of my property and I tripped over a toolbox and broke my leg. The customer service could not hear me but they sent help immediately. I would have laid there for days if I did not have a life fone alert.
My Two Cents...
The service itself is fine and we've never had a problem with it.
However, it's been a long time since we first got this thing and we've seen several commercials showing the newer devices that go even further than this one does. I'm confused as to how to upgrade.
This unit only allows us to go around the house, but doesn't work outside (like at the mailbox). vs. Newer units from other providers seem like they'd work halfway down the block with their 1000ft distances that they advertise. Is it possible to just upgrade this unit, or does LifeFone not offer these newer styles?
Also, it seems like we're overpaying for an outdated service. We're paying closer to $40 per month as opposed to the price that's advertised here. I don't see why we should be stuck paying a higher amount for an older unit when others get to have a newer style at a lower price... doesn't make sense.
